Nuclear Medicine Technologist & Accreditation Coordinator

Job Summary
Performs age-specific nuclear medicine procedures in the Cardiology Imaging department using independent judgment, technical skill, and initiative to obtain high-quality diagnostic studies. Serves as the primary coordinator for nuclear cardiology accreditation, quality-control documentation, radiation safety practices, and ongoing regulatory readiness. Works collaboratively with cardiologists, authorized users, the Radiation Safety Officer, medical physicist, department leadership, and other clinical staff to support safe, compliant, patient-centered imaging services.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology program or other educational pathway meeting certification and regulatory requirements for nuclear medicine practice.
Experience
Nuclear medicine experience preferred; cardiac/nuclear cardiology imaging experience strongly preferred. Experience with accreditation, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or radiation safety activities preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations
Current nuclear medicine credential in good standing through NMTCB (CNMT) and/or ARRT (N). BLS certification required within 90 days of employment. Maintains all continuing education, competency, licensure, registration, and certification requirements applicable to the position.
Equipment, Tools, Work Aids
Nuclear medicine cameras and related cardiac imaging equipment; dose calibrator; radiation survey and monitoring equipment; stress testing equipment; PACS; electronic medical record; computers; and related clinical and quality control equipment.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
Knowledge of nuclear medicine and nuclear cardiology examinations, radiopharmaceuticals, image acquisition, processing, and quality control. Knowledge of radiation protection principles, radioactive material handling, contamination control, exposure monitoring, and safe disposal practices. Knowledge of cardiac stress testing workflow, patient monitoring, emergency response, and recognition of changes requiring prompt clinical intervention. Working knowledge of applicable accreditation, licensing, regulatory, quality-assurance, and documentation requirements. Ability to organize records, track deadlines, identify compliance gaps, and coordinate corrective actions with department and organizational leadership. Effective communication, customer service, teamwork, training, and professional conduct.
