Job Summary

Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner duties extend the services of the physician by providing comprehensive health assessments, performing history and physicals, completing daily rounding notes, determining diagnosis, planning and prescribing treatments and managing health care regimen, adhering to a quality measures plan, prescribing medications, reconciling medications, coordinating post discharge care, and completing discharge summaries in collaboration with the designated physicians(s). This role includes the promotion of wellness, prevention of complications and management of acute and chronic conditions. The Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner will work in collaboration with the attending physician in accordance with the current rules and regulations and bylaws that govern the medical staff and nurse practitioners, as well as in collaboration with a variety of individuals to deliver high quality care.

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant program

Experience

Minimum 1 year experience post graduation

Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations

Certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Current Nursing License in the State of Alabama or current Physician Assistant license (ALBME). Certified as a Nurse Practitioner or Certified as a Physician Assistant from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Maintains current BLS and ACLS certification. Maintains Continuing Medical Education requirements.

Equipment, Tools, Work Aids

Personal Computer; Internet. Standard Office Equipment. Patient Therapeutic/Clinical Equipment. Understanding the use of Electronic Medical Records.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Nursing Practice Act Alabama Board of Nursing (ABON) or Physician Assistant Practice by Alabama Board of Medical Examiners (ALBME). Advanced Practice Guidelines (ABON) / Physician Assistant Guidelines (ALBME). Requirements Outlined for Oversight by Collaborative Physician.
